Sports massage is a specialized form of massage therapy designed to enhance athletic performance, aid in recovery, and prevent injury. It combines various techniques, including deep tissue work, stretching, and trigger point therapy, to address the specific needs of athletes before, during, and after physical activity. Whether preparing for an event, recovering from a strenuous workout, or rehabilitating from an injury, sports massage helps to improve flexibility, reduce muscle tension, and promote optimal function. The goal is to enhance the body's ability to perform, reduce the risk of injury, and support the healing process by focusing on the muscle groups used in particular sports or physical activities.
My experience with sports massage has been shaped by working with Nike athletes at the Nike campus and the Greenwich Rowing Club. The hands-on techniques I learned through my training at East West College have proven incredibly effective in helping athletes recover faster and perform at their best. By focusing on each individual’s unique physical demands, I tailor each session to address specific issues, whether it’s relieving chronic tension, improving range of motion, or helping to reduce post-exercise soreness.
